Vault Report 3/2/2011
Hey guys, time for another vault report, so here we go.
Tab 1 Consumables – I continue to encourage you guys to take however much food you like. Its staying at a pretty steady level, and now and then someone pulls a bit. We’ve got TONS, so please, help yourself. A few things from alchemy have popped up, thank you potion brewers.
Tab 2 Cloth and Leather – We’ve gotten a huge influx of Netherweave, the Burning Crusade cloth. I’m slowly filtering out the excess and turning them into bolts of Netherweave, so that they take up less space. Embersilk has been donated, and taken, and donated, and taken. It’s a hot item, but it’s not ALL being taken like it was before. Thank you for your restraint, guys. Much better than it used to be, with the same handful of people taking ALL THEY COULD everytime even a little embersilk showed up in the vault.
Leather, unfortunately, is still suffering the same fate. Someone will donate a stack or four, then someone will come and take ALL of it. Show a little restraint, guys! Grr!
Tab 3 Herbs and Ore – Metals are rapidly taking over this tab, to the point where there’s very little room for herbs. After much debate I’ve decided to filter out all classic content metals except the rare-spawn ones with green text. That’s Silver, Gold, Truesilver, and Arcanite. The logic for this is “when was the last time anyone reached into the vault for copper, tin, or bronze?” Things like that get used and level’d through while someone is level-ing their profession. Taking up a huge amount of space with a metal that’s going to gather dust is no good. I have been turning Burning Crusade metals into their greater forms as well, that is, Hardened Adamantite and Felsteel. This will not only save space in the vault, but it will save us a LOT of time and money when it comes to leveling professions. Sure you can mine fel iron and such, but how LONG does it take for someone to go out and farm for Felsteel, or Hardened Adamantite, for those last few Burning Crusade profession levels. Bleh!
Herbs are… negligible right now. We don’t seem to have any active herb gatherers right now, at least none that are sharing a lot. The greater portion of all the herbs we have are from Classic Content. Herbers, if you’d like to donate anything, we can use anything that’s of Burning Crusade level and better.
I also notice that pigments and engineering parts are popping up in this tab for some reason. While I understand, yes, engineering comes from metals, and pigments from herbs, that’s not the point of this tab. I’ll move them to “misc” when I can, that has pretty much become the “parts” tab by this point.
Tab 4 Enchants and Gems – As you may have noticed, most of the Classic Content gems have been removed from this tab. There are so many, many different kinds of gems that it was taking up more than two thirds of the tab, leaving no room for enchanting stuff! So, I decided to keep only gems from Burning Crusade and higher. The rest will be sold for guild funding. We have several gems of almost every type, so we’re doing very well in this part of the vault.
Enchanting supplies are actually doing pretty well. We even have a small supply of Cataclysm-grade enchanting supplies now. Keep it up you guys, if you have a few shards from your latest dungeon run, don’t be shy about giving one or two, we can use them! I’m going to have an enchanter from our guild look at what supplies we have, and also begin to filter out the really low level stuff. We had like three stacks of Strange Dust earlier, and it was sitting there for ages. If no one is ever going to use it, it’s better to make a few gold from it to fund guild events, I would say.
Tab 5 Misc – Tab 5 is the usual arrangement of chaos, though a good portion of it is being taken up by low level, un-inspiring recipes for leatherworking, enchanting, and jewelcrafting. This tab is often OVERFLOWING with junk and random things. If you notice we have quite a few scarabs and statues from AQ40. I plan on filtering out the green-grade recipes to make room for other things. They have been there since before I joined the Legion, and no one is taking them at all. As fast as this tab fills up with odds and ends, out with the old!
Tab 6 Elementals and Epics – This tab is blossoming nicely. I’m glad to see people took my words to heart in my last report. No one has been cleaning out EVERY SINGLE Volatile like they were before. I see people taking 2-5 now, for whatever their purposes might be. I’m proud of you guys, thank you for showing restraint and SHARING like good boys and girls.
For some odd reason there was a MASSIVE influx of Heart of Fire and Elemental Fire recently. Like, over 50 of each. I’ve since taken those out and sold them. No one was using the original stack of ten we keep there, so why have TEN stacks of ten? It makes for better moneys, I think. Not that the donation was not appreciated, but I don’t think anyone was going to use them. Even a blacksmith like me would hardly use them.
Tab 7 Armory – Ruvok has insisted that we keep weapons and armors of epic quality in the armory tab, so they have been moved from the Elementals and Epics tab to here. I have removed and sharded all green-grade items from this tab, and the shards have been placed in the vault. You may thank Tabathana for her sharding services for that. The reasoning for this is a matter of space. This tab was COMPLETELY full for several days. So, I kept the blue-grade things, and sharded the rest to make room for more. The reasoning was much the same as the other tabs, “When was the last time I reached into a guild vault for a green-grade item… never.” Blues are more powerful and valuable, so they’ve been left in there, for course. Though this does bring an interesting prospect to mind. If you would like something green-grade sharded and donated to the vault, just place it in the armory tab and I will make sure it is done. Easy!
I’m sure by now you have all either heard of or know about the jewel thief that made off with a good number of gems some days ago. I am going to try to speak with Ruvok about our “new member” vault access problem. I’ve not yet caught him, though. Ideally, I would like our newer members to have access to the FIRST tab (foods and potions) only. That way the person can’t join, grab a bunch of stuff, then leave.
I’m sure you are wondering what became of all the items that were taken, filtered out, or removed by me. All of them were placed on the Auction House and sold, then the funds given to the vault. Just selling our junk, we’ve made over 1200g in about three days! Hooray for us!
The vault is seeing a LOT more activity than it was when it was a huge mess a few weeks ago. I'm proud of ALL of you for your donations, and your good spirits of sharing and giving. Told you we'd make the goblins blush with our riches.
Okay so, the short list for this week!
1. Please take food, we have plenty.
2. Moar Cataclysm cloth, please.
3. Metals only Burning Crusade and better, please.
4. Leather? What leather?
5. Oh Herb Gatherers, where art thou?
6. Engineers, your stuff/parts goes in the Misc tab, NOT Ores and Herbs.
7. Hooray for sharing elemental stuff! *praises*
8. If you are leveling up an alt or a new Kor’kron, have a look in the armory, we have plenty.
