Event Name: Strains of Plague, Part II (Sequel to [Link])
Intended Event Launch Date: 01/21/2011
Intended Event Duration: 3 weeks (ending 02/11/2011)
Location(s): CLASSIFIED
Event Contact(s): Darathin (Alliance) Kyzun (Horde) Yulenìa (Horde)
Synopsis:
Alliance forces, headed by the Knights of Menethil and so far involving several Moonblade volunteers, are attempting to gather information on Horde troop movements and command structure in preparation for future operations alongside other potential Alliance allies. This information gathering exercise will ultimately culminate in the attempted capture of numerous high and low ranking Horde soldiers- primarily from the Kor’Kron Legion, Stormrock Clan, and several unaffiliated solders and civilians- for interrogation by Alliance specialists over a period of 3 weeks. The Knights of Menethil additionally have a secondary objective which is classified and known only by them. This secondary objective will play an additional role in the overall event later on as it develops.
Horde forces, likely to be led jointly by the Kor’Kron Legion and Stormrock Clan upon realizing individuals are MIA, will be tasked with locating the makeshift prisoner of war (POW) camp and safely extracting the captured soldiers. Optional objectives include obtaining additional information about the objectives of the Alliance interrogators (paperwork, observations, etc.), and capturing any of the on-duty personnel at the POW camp. Several Alliance players have already expressed interest in being captured.
Additional objectives for either side are free to be added by anyone at any time.
This event intends to lead into subsequent events.
OOC Synopsis:
Similar in scope to the RP-PvP events operated by COBRA and AEGIS throughout 2009 and 2010, this event’s primary objective is to serve as a grounds for cross-faction and inter-faction RP within the POW camp by means of the Battle.NET RealID. I would like to try and keep this event open to anyone who wants to participate (insofar as can be allowed IC), but please note that space is limited in the POW camp. As of the time of writing, the Kor’Kron Legion, Stormrock Clan, several volunteers in the Moonblade, and of course the Knights of Menethil have confirmed intent to participate.
Translators should be readily available most of the time, if direct messaging is not desired or there are privacy concerns. RealID conversation chat rooms can be created and joined by a multitude of people, even if not all of them have each other on RealID. In these cases, they will be listed as their character name, rather than their real name. In order to join a RealID chatroom, however, you must have someone on RealID already in the chatroom who can invite you.
The primary focus of the event is on the cross-faction and inter-faction RP over the course of the 3 weeks after capture of the Horde soldiers. Roughly around the targeted end-date, an RP-PvP event will take place whose primary focus will be on a PvP resolution to the conflict, with any number of available options, such as planned prison breakout or an actual Horde rescue attempt. This plotline is not railroaded by any means beyond rough start and end dates, so anyone is free to use any ideas or options they come up with, especially the Horde in regards to determining how they wish to rescue the soldiers and how the Alliance wishes to defend them.
Other major highlights of the event are the opportunities to form stronger bonds between individual Horde and Alliance characters (rivalries or otherwise), as well as several morally ambiguous dilemmas for characters to deal with which will make appearances as the event progresses.
Other Alliance and Horde individuals are welcome to participate (Alliance players can fill any number of roles, though Horde’s are limited primarily to captives at the start), but please note that unlike previous COBRA-AEGIS style events, this one is tailored and custom-designed to provide a reason and purpose for each character to want to be involved. PvP is not the main focus but rather a conclusion to the event which will spur further events.
